Young Adelaide defender Andrew McPherson is all smiles after his first career win on Tuesday night.
The 20-year-old played his seventh match against Greater Western Sydney and finally enjoyed a Powerade shower post-game.
The South Australian missed the Club’s first win of the season last week against Hawthorn, but said he was proud to see his teammates get off the mark.
“It was a bit disappointing to miss last week, but at the same time you’re so proud of what the boys and the Club are able to accomplish,” McPherson said post-game.
“It was very special (for me) and it’s a step in the right direction for the Club.”
The rite of passage in the team song capped off a strong performance for McPherson, who finished with 11 disposals and four intercept possessions.
But the Powerade shower wasn’t quite what he expected.
“It was really cold, they came straight out of the fridge,” McPherson said.
“It’s good fun, very sticky… an experience I’ll remember forever.”
With a first win under his belt, the SA native’s focus will now switch to cementing his position in coach Matthew Nicks’ side.
“I’m definitely feeling more comfortable,” McPherson said.
“I feel like I’m really starting to find my place back there (in the defence).”
