Adelaide forward Taylor Walker has revealed he “bawled his eyes out” when teammate Bernie Vince told him he was leaving.
The Crows Club Champion was traded to the Demons ahead of the 2013 season in exchange for Pick 23.
Walker, who lived with Vince in Adelaide, recalled the moment he found out on Triple M’s The Rush Hour.
“We were in the carpark at the Alma, bawling our eyes out,” Walker said.
“I thought something had happened to his family… It could me off guard, I was a mess.”
Vince, who co-hosts The Rush Hour, said the pair strategically went outside “because we didn’t want to cry in front of people”.
Walker is set to play his 200th AFL game on Sunday against Geelong and is taking the week preceding to reflect.
Looking back, Walker said he had no regrets ahead of game 200.
“When you’re having a beer in the crowd when you’re not supposed to, when you do your ACL and are out for a year… you second guess yourself,” Walker said.
“But I don’t have any regrets, live life to the fullest and have fun while you’re doing it.
“Here we are (ahead of game 200). I’m excited.”
