Crows forward Taylor Walker has recalled the amusing one-liner given to him by club great Tony Modra early in his AFL career.
Walker is just four goals away from overtaking Modra as Adelaide’s all-time leading goalkicker and discussed an interaction between the pair on Triple M’s Roo and Ditts on Tuesday morning.
“I still remember the day when I kicked six down at AAMI Stadium,” Walker said.
“I came off and he said, ‘I would’ve got dropped the next week for that...’”.
The former skipper is set to celebrate another milestone on Sunday when he runs out for his 200th AFL game.
Walker said he was excited for the occasion and reflected on his time at the Club.
“I was a kid from Broken Hill, 17, came down to Adelaide and got to play for the Club that I grew up barracking for so that was my first proud moment,” he said.
“Then when Phil (Walsh) said to me that he wanted me to captain the Club, it blew me off my feet.
“Here we are 13 years later on the week of playing 200 games. If you said to me I’m going to play 200 games of AFL footy, let alone for the club that I love, I probably would’ve told you to go jump.
“It’s been a good ride and hopefully a little bit longer to go.”
