Greater Western Sydney will be without vice-captain Stephen Coniglio for its season-opener against the Crows at Adelaide Oval.

Coniglio, 23, will miss six weeks after twisting his left ankle in a tackle by North Melbourne's Andrew Swallow in Canberra on Friday night.

The star midfielder finished third in the Giants' best and fairest behind Toby Greene last year, was selected in the provisional 40-man All Australian squad, and broke the club record for disposals.

Young GWS defender Aidan Corr has also been ruled out for Round One after injuring his hand.

Corr sat out the last three quarters of the club’s final JLT Community Series match after landing awkwardly. Scans revealed an unusual injury to the capsule at the base of the hand, which will require the 22-year-old to wear a splint for the next fortnight.

The pair joins recruit Brett Deledio on the sidelines. Deledio will have a delayed start to the season after re-aggravating a calf injury.

Goalkicker Steve Johnson was concussed against the Kangaroos, but is expected to be fit to tackle the Crows.

The Giants received good news from the Match Review Panel on Monday.

Greene and fellow forward Jeremy Cameron are both free to take on Adelaide after escaping suspension for separate incidents on Friday night.

Cameron can accept a $1,000 fine for striking Roos defender Scott Thompson, while Greene has also been offered a sanction of $1,000 for misconduct against Sam Wright.

The Crows and Giants will be in Round One action on Sunday, March 26, from 2:50pm (local). Tickets to the game at Adelaide Oval are available here.
