Adelaide ruckman Reilly O’Brien is locked and loaded to face Melbourne superstar Max Gawn on Wednesday night.

On Tuesday, O’Brien told the media he considers the Melbourne captain “one of the best players in the league, let alone among ruckmen”.

“I’ll need to negate his tap work, which is some of the best in the league,” O’Brien said.

“Being able to get hand on ball and disrupt his work, and be mindful of him around the ground… he’s very smart around the stoppage.

“I’ll need to stay switched on.”

Gawn was a question mark to play against the Crows but declared himself fit on Tuesday morning for the Round 10 clash at Adelaide Oval.

Adelaide will come off of a four-day break, following the loss to North Melbourne on Saturday.

Although a short turnaround for player fitness, O’Brien said it would benefit his side.

“Personally, I’ve found it (the shorter break) great,” he said.

“Knock over the review and move onto the next week, otherwise you’re stewing over it for a longer period.

“It’s handy to come after our performance on the weekend.”

Adelaide will face Melbourne on Wednesday night at 7.40pm ACST.

The Crows team will be announced on Tuesday at 5.50pm ACST.
