Veteran Bryce Gibbs is set to make his first senior appearance in more than four months this Saturday.

Coach Matthew Nicks confirmed on Friday Gibbs would be named in Adelaide’s 22 to face North Melbourne at Metricon Stadium after performing strongly in recent reserves scratch matches.

"Gibba will play," Nicks said.

"I think last week we spoke about how he performed on the field, we've been really pleased with what he's done off the field.

"His leadership, working with our younger group, his attitude... he's been up and about.

"We felt his performance on the weekend was enough to warrant selection."

Gibbs last played in the Round One loss to Sydney as a defender but is expected to see midfield minutes this weekend with on-ballers Brad Crouch and Rory Sloane both missing due to injury.

"We're coming into quite a challenging period for us in terms of managing players," Nicks said.

"As an older player, to get your opportunity to come out and add to the group... we look forward to what he brings.

"The group were so excited when we announced that (Gibbs inclusion) earlier this week."

Adelaide’s final 22 for Saturday’s clash will be announced at 5.50pm ACST on Friday.
