Crows half-forward Matthew Bode is out of Sunday's clash with the Kangaroos at Telstra Dome.

And the Crows may also need to replace defender Nathan Bassett, doubtful after aggravating a neck injury at training.

Bode, who has played every game this season after returning from a shoulder reconstruction, trained in Adelaide on Saturday morning in an bid to show he had overcome the effects of a heavy knock to the head and back in last Saturday night's Showdown.

The club's medical staff, however, decided it would be better for Bode to miss one game.

He has been replaced by Chris Knights, who responded to being left out of Adelaide's line-up last week by collecting 31 possessions in the SANFL.

And the Crows may also need to call on first-year player Jason Porplyzia, a late addition to the travelling party, to cover for Bassett.
