STATISTICALLY, it wasn't his best return for the season, but Tyson Edwards was happy with his own game after the Crows' heartbreaking one-point loss to Fremantle at Subiaco on Sunday afternoon.

Edwards – just two matches away from reaching the magical 250-game mark after starting with the Crows in 1995 – was almost lost for words when asked to describe how it felt out on the ground.

"I don't know what to say, really – we knew it was going to be a tight game at half time," he said. "It was going to be a bit of a dogfight, it was that sort of game. Nobody could really kick a goal, so we knew it was going to be tight, but probably not quite that tight.

Fremantle had six more scoring shots than the Crows, but Adelaide looked to be clearly the better team, especially in the first half, but Edwards wasn't certain why his team failed to capitalise on their perceived superiority.

"I don't know what you can put it down to. You could be really harsh and say we should have kicked some goals that we missed, but they missed some as well so that sort of evens it out.

“They had at least one loose in our forward line, I think, and we probably didn't move the ball as fluently as we would have liked to. That was probably the main reason we couldn't get a few more scores, I think.

"I'm really not sure what to put it down to today. It was just that in the end they got that one with a few seconds to go and you can't really do much about it. That's just the way it goes."But despite the loss, Edwards said his own form had taken a turn for the good.

"I've been probably a little bit disappointed in my form over the last couple of weeks so that was a little bit better. Hopefully I can continue that form I showed today in the next few weeks, because I haven't been real happy with the way I've been going so far.

"I know there's still some areas that I'm still not happy with from today's game, but it was a little bit better, I guess."
