McLeod, Edwards set to play
Andrew McLeod and Tyson Edwards have breezed through Adelaide's final training session and seem certain to play against Geelong in the NAB Cup grand final at AA
McLeod did not train on Wednesday because of leg soreness and Edwards 'tweaked' an ankle midway through the session.
But both experienced midfielders left no doubts about their fitness by training convincingly at AAMI Stadium on Friday.
The Crows still have to omit four players from the squad of 28 named on Thursday.
The four players added to the squad which belted Melbourne by 85 points at AAMI Stadium last Friday night are Simon Goodwin (shin soreness), Nathan Bassett (shoulder), Hayden Skipworth (calf) and Jason Porplyzia (quad).
Still out are Mark Ricciuto (hamstring), Jason Torney (quad), Scott Welsh (stress fracture in a foot), Nathan Bock (back), Scott Stevens (shoulder), John Hinge (foot) and Ben Hudson (long-term knee injury).
In Ricciuto's absence, veteran defender Ben Hart will captain the Crows against the Cats.
"It's been a rotation with Mark not being available," Hart said. "It's great. To captain a side at any time is an honour, and it's a pre-season grand final as well. It's something to look back on."
Hart said Adelaide had adopted 'a no-risk policy' with players throughout the NAB Cup and that would still apply to McLeod and Edwards.
"If those guys don't pull up well enough, they won't play," he said. "The further you go in this competition - and it is a great competition - there is no better way to prepare for a season, and you are playing quality opposition in good games.
"You like to go out and win every game, and, as long as you have that intensity throughout those matches, it doesn't matter if it's a first-year player or someone with 200 games, you want to equip yourself well."
Asked how big an advantage the Crows would have through playing at AAMI Stadium, where Geelong has won only three and drawn one of 20 premiership-season matches against Adelaide and Port Adelaide, Hart said: "I think it's a bit of a help … if we can get a crowd here and help us and support us and make a bit of noise and hopefully make it easier for us and harder for Geelong …
"It is a two-horse race and, once you get out on the field, it will be the team that executes the best skills and has more efficient use of the ball."
