The Westpac Community Cup will be awarded to the winner of Saturday night’s blockbuster between Adelaide and Collingwood.

Dedicated to an important community organisation each year, this year it will pay tribute to Surf Life Saving South Australia and the 8,000 members aged 5 to 90 years old that patrol South Australia’s beaches.

The Westpac Community Cup highlights the work volunteer organisations do for the community and this year Surf Life Saving South Australia (SLSSA) has been singled out for recognition.

Surf Life Saving and the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopters are part of the Australian culture.  They do much more than patrol beaches.  They rescue over land and sea, watching over us and risking their lives in times of need.

Westpac’s association with Surf Life Saving spans nearly 40 years and together with Westpac, both Clubs have thrown their full support behind this wonderful cause.

To promote this game and the importance of its association with Surf Lifesaving SA, Crows players and coach had a kick and catch with Nippers at Wednesday’s training session on AAMI Stadium. The kids were able to get up and close with the team and swap their Speedos for footy boots.

As part of the pre-match activity on Saturday, lifesavers will also participate in a lap of honour providing an opportunity for Adelaide and Collingwood fans to recognise their extraordinary life-saving work.
