Stats that matter
West Coast is ranked No.1 in the AFL for contested marks, averaging 15.5 per game. Adelaide sits third, with an average of 13.0. The Eagles are also the most efficient kicking team, hitting their targets 70 per cent of the time. They are second in the League for long kicks and play on from marks the fourth-most of any side.
Former skipper Simon Goodwin holds the record for most Crows goals in a match against West Coast. Goodwin slotted seven against the Eagles in round two, 2008.
Andrew Gaff is one of West Coast’s most damaging ball users. The young midfielder is ranked second in the competition for both long and effective kicks, and also second in uncontested possessions. Jack Darling, who is in doubt for Saturday’s clash with a hamstring complaint, leads the Eagles’ goalkicking (30).
Adelaide midfielder Scott Thompson amassed a game-high 40 possessions when the teams last met in round 24 last season. It wasn’t enough to earn the Crows Club Champion a Brownlow Medal vote. No Adelaide player polled votes in the two matches between the sides in 2012.
Dean Cox (seventh) and Nic Naitanui (11th) are both ranked top-12 in the AFL for hit-outs. Crows ruckman Sam Jacobs is No.1.
Cox has earned more free-kicks (39) than any player in the competition this season. Midfielders Luke Shuey (second) and Daniel Kerr (seventh) are also positioned in the top-10.
