Welsh return to be delayed
Adelaide has delayed Scott Welsh’s comeback from a leg stress fracture.
The decision to stall the 2005 leading goalkicker’s return to football was made today after a scan showed the previous stress fracture that kept him out of the NAB Cup series had not repaired well enough for him to play.
Crows fitness coach Stephen Schwerdt said Welsh was disappointed to be ruled out of a return this week.
“He has done everything he’s been asked to do but some times these type of injuries are frustrating and more time is needed to get it right,” Schwerdt said.
“We will now back off his training for two weeks and then reassess his program.”
Welsh kicked 58 goals in 23 AFL games last season to win the club’s goalkicking award for the third time.
