Kurt tips it Crows' way
Kurt Tippett started like a steam train and caused problems for the Saints all night in round 12
TIppett was, for the most part, unstoppable in the forward 50, dragging down five marks - three of which were contested.
St Kilda's backline struggled to deal with his massive 202cm, 104kg frame, often double-teaming him in a contest, releasing another Adelaide forward.
Tippett combined well with Taylor Walker, Jason Porplyzia and Ian Callinan, but it was the 25-year-old who set the standard early.
He burst out of the blocks with three first quarter goals and by the five-minute mark of the second quarter he had kicked 4.2.
Brenton Sanderson was expectedly pleased with his work.
"Tippo was on fire early, wasn't he?" he said.
"He kicked two early, if he'd kicked four straight who knows.
"I hoped he was going to kick a bag tonight - five's still a great result for him… I'm really happy with his effort."
Sanderson said Walker could have also finished with a big tally, if he had kicked straight, finished with 2.3, with all three behinds coming in the final term.
But Sanderson praised the ability of his group to find goals through different avenues and not simply relying on two players to kick a winning score.
"Walker hits the post twice in the last quarter, kicks three points in the last quarter, but those guys looked really dangerous up forward," he said.
"Even (Josh) Jenkins in the first half, we've got targets to kick the ball to and you watch (Ian) Callinan. Callinan just gets to the feet of those boys at every contest.
"His two goals were great, really happy for 'Porps' (Jason Porplyzia) to kick three in a quarter tonight too - he just had that burst that broke the game open."
