As the players and coaches prepare for a much-deserved break, afc.com.au takes a statistical look at the Crows' season so far ...
1 - Adelaide is ranked first in the AFL for contested possessions, averaging 155 a game this season. The Crows are also the best clearance team in the competition, averaging 42 per game.
1.59 - Adelaide’s kick-to-handball ratio - the lowest in the League.
2 - Adelaide’s overall ranking in hit-outs to advantage. Sam Jacobs leads the way in this statistic, with 86 for the season.
4 - Debutants unveiled so far this season: Sam Kerridge (round three), Sam Shaw (round four), Jarryd Lyons (round five) and Josh Jenkins (round seven). Only newcomers Greater Western Sydney (27 debutants), Geelong (seven) and Collingwood (six) have had more.
8 - Wins and two losses - the Club’s record at the half-way mark of the season. The best start to a season in Adelaide’s history.
18 - Jared Petrenko’s total score assists, ranked eighth in the AFL.
26 - The contested marks Kurt Tippett has taken, to be ranked second in the competition behind Collingwood star Travis Cloke (29). Taylor Walker (15) is ranked 18th overall despite having missed two matches through suspension.
27 - Goals Taylor Walker has kicked to be third in the race for the Coleman Medal. Lance Franklin (34) and Jack Riewoldt (31) leapfrogged ‘Tex’ with bags of 13 and eight goals, respectively last weekend.
30 - Total number of players to pull on the Crows guernsey this season. Only Richmond (27) has used fewer players.
32 - The Crows jumper often seen bursting away from the stoppages. Patrick Dangerfield is the No.1 clearance player (74) in the competition. He also leads the way in hard-ball gets (79) and ranks second in contested possessions (161) - only one behind Sydney Swans midfielder Josh Kennedy (162). The explosive ball winner is third for inside 50m entries (57).
Scott Thompson is no slouch in these areas either. ‘Thommo’ is ranked 10th in hard-ball gets (58) and sixth in clearances (67).
38 - Adelaide’s average winning margin in the opening 10 rounds. The average margin in the Club’s two losses is 41 points.
42 - Coaches votes Scott Thompson has received, to sit fifth overall in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award. Patrick Dangerfield (39 votes) and Rory Sloane (38) have also polled strongly, placed eighth and ninth on the leaderboard, respectively.
50.32 - Of Adelaide’s scores this season have been from between 41-50m out - the highest percentage from this distance in the League.
55.8 - The Club’s average number of uncontested possessions this season - the second-fewest of all 18 teams.
72.8 - Percentage of time Adelaide has been in the lead in matches this season - the highest percentage of any team in the opening 10 rounds.
73 - Tackles skipper Nathan van Berlo has laid this season - ranked second in the League behind Essendon onballer Ben Howlett (79).
80 - Brenton Sanderson’s winning percentage in his first season as coach.
137 - The Crows’ highest score this season - 19.23 (137) - against Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium in round one. The Club’s lowest score was 6.13 (49) in the round nine loss to Collingwood.
295 - The total number of disposals Scott Thompson has accumulated in 2012, ranked third in the AFL. Patrick Dangerfield is ranked 10th (268 possessions).
