Despite the loss to Fremantle, Scott Thompson’s performance attracted a number of the coaches’ votes in round three.

Thompson had 18 kicks, 22 handballs and five marks and was easily Adelaide’s best in the midfield. Bernie Vince was the other Crow to feature, receiving two votes.

Jobe Watson and Matthew Bode were the only players to receive the maximum 10 votes each in round three with best on ground performances.

West Coast’s Dean Cox leads the votes after three rounds with 22 votes ahead of the Essendon skipper with 20.

The 'Champion Player of the Year' is voted on week to week by both of the Senior Coaches on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis.

Each Senior Coach votes on their match only and any player suspensions are disregarded.
