ADELAIDE dual premiership player Tyson Edwards says a lack of manpower against Collingwood was not an excuse for his side's 32-point loss at the MCG on Saturday.

But Edwards, speaking post-match, conceded the loss of Brett Burton to a season-ending knee injury and Jason Porplyzia with a dislocated shoulder made it tough to gain the four points.

"It obviously didn't help, but we played some pretty good footy in that first half, but we came up against a good side, so they were always going to come back," Edwards told afc.com.au.

"I thought our errors cost us. At times, we moved the ball a little bit slow and there wasn't enough movement from us, but I thought our errors really cost us and it caused turnovers."

Edwards said it was tough seeing his teammates injured, but was adamant the playing group needed to stay focused on the job at hand in those situations.

"You feel for them initially, but then you've got to get on with the game," Edwards said.

"The hardest thing is the rotation side of it – you lose a few rotations – but we played against Port [Adelaide] earlier in the year and we had exactly the same thing and two players go down and we still managed to have a good result, so it doesn't help, but we're not going to use that as an excuse.

"There were lots of positives, particularly in the first half and I thought that was the footy we wanted to play – we moved it quite quick and our skills were better when we hit the targets, so there were some individual guys who played some good footy."

Still, Edwards said the team would quickly bounce back and focus its energies on next round's 25th Showdown clash against Port Adelaide.

"We've got Port [Adelaide] next week, so that'll be a big game and there will be a big build up to that, so we've just got to move on and that's footy," Edwards said.

"That's the beauty of the game and we'll get another crack at it next week and we'll be raring to go again next week."
