The 18-year-old key position player dominated in defence for the Roosters, picking up 13 kicks, eight marks and 19 handballs. He was strong overhead, provided good run and made good decisions.
Tony Armstrong (19 kicks, nine handballs) was also busy for North off half-back and Rory Sloane (seven kicks, 10 handballs) was steady in defence, his work “in close” again a feature.
Jared Petrenko started well for the Eagles and then fell out of the game before finishing strongly. He had seven kicks and seven handballs.
Central District’s Jonathon Griffin, returning after a calf injury, only had four possessions but he started to get his hand to the ball in the ruck and finished with about 18 hit-outs.
Myke Cook was a bit up and down with the Panthers. His first and last quarters were his best and he finished with ten kicks and six handballs.
Trent Hentschel made a strong return to football on Saturday.
Playing for Woodville-West Torrens reserves, Hentschel started in defence and also had a run in attack. He finished with 13 kicks, nine marks and four handballs and most importantly finished the game, his first for nearly two months.
Also in the SANFL reserves, Irish rookie Brian Donnelly kicked 2.3 at full forward. He took two excellent pack marks and continues to show some improvement in the areas he has been working on.
Greg Gallman (North) was again solid in defence and had six kicks and seven handballs. Ricky Henderson (Central) played in defence and had a good game, collecting 15 kicks and eight handballs.
Tom Lee played at centre half back and although he only had seven possessions he was named among Sturt’s club best.
