Ben Hart looked anything but an AFL champion in the making.

He was only 16 and wearing his Rostrevor College school uniform when paraded as the Adelaide’s Football Club’s youngest recruit on March 11, 1991 - the day the Crows announced a 52-man list for their inaugural season in the AFL.

Hart had made his SANFL league debut for North Adelaide in the 1990 final series and was one of ten juniors chosen by Adelaide to top-up the squad.  Still completing Year 12, Hart continued to play for his school and North, with the occasional visit to West Lakes for training.

It was the start of a wonderfully successful 20-year association with the Club.

The next season Hart made his AFL debut - he remains the youngest Crow on debut - and made an immediate impression, earning a spot in the All Australian team as a defender. He went on to play 311 AFL games from 1992-2006, won two club champion awards  (1999,2002) and was an All-Australian four times.

“Where have those 20 years gone?” said Hart, now entering his fourth season as an assistant coach with the Crows.
