The Adelaide Football Club is about to undertake a major extension and redevelopment of its facilities and is delighted that the State Government has seen fit to support the project in such a significant way.

In providing this support ($2.5 million), the Rann Government has assisted greatly in ensuring the success of the project, and the fulfilment of the plans which have been 'worked up' in the past two years.

AFC CEO Steven Trigg said today: "We are enormously grateful for the government backing of what is the biggest project in the history of the club.

"In an extraordinarily competitive industry, this helps very much with our football plans - but also in fulfilling our desire to be even more inclusive and engaging with supporters and the community in general.

"We aim to bring many thousands of schoolchildren and interested people into the AFC environment for educational experiences - such as the Crows in Schools program that, with new facilities, can more meaningfully become Schools in Crows!

"On behalf of the club, we sincerely thank the Premier and his government for their backing.

"We are also delighted by the Government's backing of the redevelopment of AAMI Stadium with a $100m grant (over three years) to the SANFL, a decision which will benefit many thousands of South Australians."
