Jack Bobridge and the Australian team qualified second-fastest for the men's team pursuit as rivals Great Britain broke the world record.

Australia clocked three minutes 55.694 seconds as the British scorched to 3:52.499, easily beating their own mark of 3:53.295.

The Australian quartet of Bobridge, Rohan Dennis, Glenn O'Shea and Michael Hepburn will now meet New Zealand for a place in the final.

Patty Mills scored 20 points to lead Australia to an 81-61 victory over China last night for the Boomers’ first win in the men's basketball.

''Yeah, I got in a little bit of rhythm there,” Mills said.

“We still have a long way to go before we hit our straps but it was good to get that one on the board and get one under our belt. We have Great Britain now and it's all about getting into that rhythm.''
