Adelaide ruckman Rhett Biglands last night had a second reconstruction of his left knee.

Crows chief medical officer Dr Andrew Potter said: “Surgery confirmed Rhett’s anterior cruciate wasn’t working as it should and required reconstruction. The surgery showed that, as we suspected, the problem was not the result of one incident.”

Biglands first injured his knee in the 2006 preliminary final. He did not play in 2007 but resumed training before the end of last season and took part in all pre-season training before reporting a lack of stability in the knee in mid-January.

Coach Neil Craig said: “We are extremely disappointed for Rhett. The way he went about his first rehabilitation was exemplary and the Club will do all it can to help him through this latest setback.”

Greg Gallman, who hurt his left knee at training on Thursday, will continue to be monitored over the next few days.
