Both teams will go into this afternoon's twilight clash at the MCG as named.

Young Crow Luke Brown will start as the substitute in his third AFL game, while Neville Jetta will wear the green vest for Melbourne.

On Friday afternoon, Adelaide made three changes to the team to play Melbourne, recalling Jason Porplyzia, Brodie Smith and Aidan Riley.

Porplyzia returns after a two-week absence with a bruised shoulder blade, while Smith has overcome a calf complaint that kept him out of the clash with Brisbane.

Unlucky to lose his place in the side after the win over Fremantle in round 19, hard nut Riley will play his third game of the season on Sunday. The trio replaces injured midfielder Rory Sloane (elbow), and Chris Knights and Josh Jenkins, who have both been omitted.

Coach Brenton Sanderson said he was rapt with the ‘ins’.

“Porps and Brodie have played a lot of footy for us this year, and they assist our team balance,” Sanderson told afc.com.au.

“Porps has been a great forward for us in the second half of the year, and he’s been doing some excellent work through the midfield as well, so we’ll look to use him in that rotation.

“He and Brodie are both important inclusions. Aidan was probably a bit stiff to go out after being the substitute against Freo, and he’s earned another opportunity with his good form for Sturt.”

Jenkins’ omission means milestone man Kurt Tippett, who will play his 100th game on Sunday, will need to assist big man Sam Jacobs in the ruck.

Sanderson said he felt the team was too top heavy last week.

“The three talls didn’t really work for us. This (two tall) structure has been the one we’ve had the most success with. It opens us up a little bit if we lose a ruckman or a key forward, but we think we can cover that," he said.

“Porps plays tall even though he’s only 177cm. He’s great at ground level, but can also take a contested mark overhead.”

Damaging utility Brodie Martin will make his return from a hamstring injury in the SANFL this weekend, while Ricky Henderson (ankle) and Andy Otten (knee) are also nearing a comeback.

Sanderson said the Crows would look to settle on a line-up with finals not far away.

“We probably know what our best set-up is now. We’ll always debate the sub and one or two positions, but we’ve got to get our best 22 in form at the right time of the year,” he said.

“We had a bit of a hiccup last week. Our second and third quarters against Brisbane were as bad as we’ve played. We’ve got to sharpen up and make sure we’re not flirting with out form with only two games left to prepare for September.”
