Star Crow Scott Thompson has finished equal-fourth in the 2012 Brownlow Medal.

Thompson polled 25 votes to sit level with 2011 Brownlow Medallist Dane Swan - five votes behind winner, Essendon captain Jobe Watson.

Young midfielder Patrick Dangerfield collected 23 votes to finish in outright seventh place. Hawks skipper Sam Mitchell and Richmond onballer Trent Cotchin made a late run in the voting to be joint-runners up on 26 votes, while former winner Gary Ablett claimed fourth spot (24).

Adelaide was the only Club with two players to reach the 20-vote mark on Monday night. The duo's combined total of 48 votes was the most of any pair of teammates on the night. It was the sole occasion this season Thompson and Dangerfield's combined brilliance proved a downside.

Thompson, 29, received votes in 11 of a possible 22 games. The 2012 All-Australian polled seven votes in the first four rounds to keep touch with Watson and Ablett, who both burst out of the blocks in the voting.

The reigning Crows Club Champion was still around the mark in Round 18, sitting in third place overall on 21 votes behind Watson (26) and Ablett (22)

But Thompson only polled four votes in the last five rounds as teammate and fellow pre-count favourite Dangerfield went into vote-getting overdrive.

Dangerfield amassed 14 votes between rounds 17 and 23, including three in Adelaide’s loss to Geelong at Simonds Stadium.

The All-Australian half-forward flanker’s 23 votes included five best-on-ground performances (against Port Adelaide in Round Five, Carlton in Round Eight, Geelong in Round 18, West Coast in Round 20 and Gold Coast in Round 23).

Thompson received the maximum three votes in four matches - against the Western Bulldogs in Round Two, Geelong in Round Seven, St Kilda in Round 12 and Richmond in Round 14.

Rory Sloane also proved a hit with the umpires.

Sloane was the next-best Crows vote-getter, polling 11 votes including best-on-ground displays against Greater Western Sydney in Round Four, Sydney in Round Six and Fremantle in Round 10.

All-Australian nominee Sam Jacobs (five), Matt Wright (three), NAB Rising Star Daniel Talia (one) and Ian Callinan (one) all polled their first-ever Brownlow votes on Monday night.
