A special remake of the Christmas classic ‘Jingle Bells’ performed by Bernie Vince and Taylor Walker was among the highlights of the 2012 Crows Foundation Christmas Carols on Tuesday night.
More than 1,000 carollers packed the Westpac Centre for the annual event, which was headlined by The Voice contestant Sarah Lloyde and hosted by South Australian identity and former Crow Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald.
Bernie and Tex also joined a group of their teammates on stage to sing two traditional Carols, but the players were happy to leave the majority of the carolling to the experts - the Woodville Concert Band, Adelaide University Choral Society, Woodville Concert Choir and the SA Primary Schools Choir.
The FIVEaa All-Stars, including inaugural Crows coach, also belted out a few tunes including a ‘Happy Prague Wedding’ ode to coach Brenton Sanderson and wife to be Veronika.
There was autograph signing, photos, face painting and a visit from Father Christmas himself. The Crows Supporter Group was also on hand cooking a sausage sizzle.
The players roamed the Shed Floor selling raffle tickets - new rookie Jack Osborn sold the winner.
In all, more than $12,000 was raised for the Crows Foundation helping SA children in need. Hundreds of presents were also placed under the Toyota Christmas Tree. The gifts will be donated to three charities, Smith Family, Time for Kids and Flinders Medical Centre.
Thank you to everyone who came along and donated their time, and to our sponsors, City of Charles Sturt, Palletco SA, Clinical Cosmetic Solutions and Visage Audio Visual, who made the night possible.
