Richard Douglas has agreed to a new three-year contract with the Adelaide Football Club.
The 2010 Club Champion, recruited from Victorian U18 club Calder Cannons, is now set to spend at least a decade at the Crows, with the new deal extending to the end of the 2015 season.
Douglas, 25, was Adelaide's first draft pick (No 16) in the 2005 AFL national draft. He made his AFL debut the following season and has now played 98 AFL games.
The classy midfielder joins promising duo Patrick Dangerfield and Matt Jaensch in committing to the Club this week. Jared Petrenko and Brodie Smith also inked new deals earlier in the season, while Rory Sloane has also indicated he’ll remain at West Lakes beyond this year.
Originally from Broadford in country Victoria, Douglas said it was an easy decision to sign on.
“I’ve got some good ties at the Club. I love it now. The team is going well too, so there’s no reason for me to leave,” Douglas told afc.com.au.
“You never stop missing home, but the longer you’re away I think it tends to get easier and you build strong relationships and friendships here. My parents and brother and sisters are still back home and they come over a little bit when they can.
“I really enjoy it in Adelaide and was keen to stay.”

Coach Brenton Sanderson has advocated a successful future at West Lakes, and said he was pleased to have another two players commit to being part of it.
“The pieces of the jigsaw are starting to fall into place now. It’s really good to see players commit to the Club longer-term,” Sanderson said.
“On the back of Danger’s signature, to get Jaenschy and Dougy too is really good. Hopefully, we get a few more over the line in the next few weeks but as I’ve said we’re not going to pressure the guys into making a decision right now.
“We’re really happy players want to stay. They’re enjoying playing together and playing some good footy, so why wouldn’t you sign?”
