Ian Callinan will be elevated to Adelaide’s primary list for the 2013 season.

The mature age rookie from Tasmania - who played 23 AFL games this year - has been rewarded for his efforts with a new one-year contract.

Crows List Manager David Noble said: “Ian was always part of our plans for next season but we needed to delay the decision to upgrade him until we had a closer look at our primary list numbers through the early stages of the trade and free agency periods.

“He had a strong season, polled club champion votes in a lot of games, was our second highest goalkicker and was also a strong leader and mentor off the field. We are excited to be able to elevate Ian to our primary list.”

Callinan, 29, was drafted by the Crows as a rookie at the end of 2010 after playing in four consecutive SANFL premierships with Central District.

The small forward played three AFL games in his first season with the Crows but this year was upgraded as the Crows’ nominated rookie before round one.

He kicked 39 goals in his 23 appearances this year.

Adelaide now has three spots open on its primary list and every remaining player is contracted.

Michael Doughty (retired), Brad Symes (delisted) and Chris Knights (free agent, to Richmond) have departed while Kurt Tippett is seeking a trade to the Sydney Swans.

The Crows will add Brad Crouch, who was picked up late last year as a 17-year-old in a deal with Greater Western Sydney and spent the 2012 season with the Crows but playing with West Adelaide in the SANFL.
