Adelaide’s young contingent impressed against Port Adelaide in a scratch match held at Alberton Oval on Saturday afternoon.
The two sides played six 12-minute periods ahead of Adelaide’s clash with St Kilda on Monday night at Adelaide Oval.
Defenders Josh Worrell and Jordon Butts were in particularly good form, both playing their roles down back and keeping the Power goalless in the third and fifth terms.
Assistant coach Brent Reilly said both played their part well on Saturday.
“Josh did really well in his one-on-one contests and Jordon had plenty of good moments,” Reilly said.
“It’s encouraging to get those guys some minutes against AFL players.”
SA native Harry Schoenberg was again terrific in the centre of the ground, linking up well with more experienced players such as Myles Poholke and Bryce Gibbs.
Ruckman Kieran Strachan continued to shine, both at centre bounces and around the ground.
“Kieran Strachan again was solid,” Reilly said.
“He’s strung a lot of good games together now, which is great for him and great for the Club.”
Forward Lachlan Gollant played a term early for Port Adelaide but really turned on the afterburners for the Crows in the second half of the match.
In the fifth, the No.44 nailed a tricky snap kick to the top of the goal square to set Riley Knight up for his first of the day.
He bagged himself a goal in the final term through a neat passage of play involving Schoenberg, Billy Frampton and a strong run through the middle from Lachlan Murphy.
