The Melbourne Cricket Ground holds many special memories for the Adelaide Football Club.
But in 22 seasons in the national competition, Adelaide has only played 55 times at the famous ground.
Adelaide’s two premierships were won at the MCG, as was its first finals appearance in 1993.
But there has also been some pain. The 1993 preliminary final loss to Essendon is probably at the top of the list. And last year’s five-point preliminary final loss to Hawthorn followed a similar narrow loss to Collingwood in the 2009 final series.
Surprisingly, Adelaide has only played Carlton twice at the ground – in the 2008 minor round and in a final in 2001.
