Stats that matter
Crows ruckman Sam Jacobs is the reigning Showdown Medallist. Jacobs was adjudged to be the best player on the ground in Round 15 last season after amassing a record 61 hit-outs and also 19 possessions. Patrick Dangerfield took out best-afield honours in the earlier meeting between the teams in Round Five. In that match, Dangerfield starred with a career-high 39 disposals.

After two rounds, Port Adelaide is ranked No.1 in the AFL for short kicks. The Power also pride themselves on their defensive pressure, ranked No.1 for time in forward half and second in forward-half tackles.

Ricky Henderson was the dominant forward in Round 15 last season, booting a career-high six goals. Brodie Martin, who started as the substituted, chimed in with three goals. Paul Stewart finished with four goals for the losing team. Taylor Walker (six goals) did the damage in the earlier meeting between the sides in 2012.

Justin Westhoff leads Port Adelaide’s goalkicking this season, with six. Westhoff enjoys the Showdown contest, having slotted four goals against the Crows in Round Five last year. Kane Cornes has gathered more possessions than any other Power player in 2013, averaging 29.5 per game.

Adelaide will be aiming for its fourth Showdown win in succession on Sunday – a record the Club also achieved in 2005-06. The Crows have never won five consecutive games against the Power.

Tony Modra kicked seven goals in the first-ever Showdown. This is also the most goals kicked in a Showdown, a record shared with Crow Peter Vardy.

Brad Crouch and Luke Brown are both in line to make their Showdown debuts on Sunday.

The Crows have won the past three meetings between these two teams, but Port Adelaide holds a narrow overall advantage 17-16. Adelaide has not led the overall ledger since 2000.

Andrew McLeod holds the record for most Crows goals against the Power. McLeod slotted 24 goals in 27 Showdowns. McLeod also holds the record for most Showdown appearances (27) by an Adelaide player.

News bites
No more playing favourites at Port: Westhoff – AFL.com.au
COACH Ken Hinkley's 'no favourites' policy has the squad more united than in the past, forward Justin Westhoff says. Despite being fully fit, ex-captain Dom Cassisi was forced to play in the SANFL last weekend and there's no guarantee he'll play in Sunday's Showdown against Adelaide.

Surgery for Ebert – Adelaide Advertiser
PORT Adelaide forward Brett Ebert has chosen surgery to end his long-running curse with groin injuries - and save his AFL career. Ebert, 29, will miss the next six weeks of football.

Gray ready to return – Adelaide Advertiser
ROBBIE Gray is ready to return to AFL football on the stage that brings the best from the Port Adelaide specialist forward - the Showdowns. And Port says Gray is "busting the door" of the match committee room at Alberton to be part of Sunday's enticing derby. But the Power's big challenge is deciding how they fit Gray into the Showdown, almost 12 months after his AFL career was put on hold by a serious knee injury requiring surgery. In question is whether Gray resumes as a forward, with Port abandoning its two-ruckmen model with Jarrad Redden and Matthew Lobbe. Former skipper Dom Cassisi is also pressing for selection for Balfours Showdown XXXIV.

Schulz and Hartlett set for Showdown
Jay Schulz and Hamish Hartlett are expected to be named to play in Balfours Showdown XXXIV at AAMI Stadium on Sunday. Schulz was substituted from Saturday night's game against the Giants with a groin complaint while Hartlett was put on ice during the last quarter with a back complaint.
