It’s been confirmed defender Brent Reilly will require a shoulder reconstruction, which will see him miss the remainder of the 2013 season.

Reilly dislocated his right shoulder in the opening minute of Adelaide’s 28-point win over Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium on Saturday. The 29-year-old will have surgery in the next week.

The estimated recovery time for the injury is between five and six months, with Reilly expected to be ready for the start of pre-season training.

Coach Brenton Sanderson said it was disappointing to lose the experienced Crow.

“We feel disappointed for Brent. It’s just been one of those years for him, but he’ll be back,” Sanderson said.

“It’s about a six-month injury so, like Taylor Walker, we’ll get Brent ready for next season at Adelaide Oval.

“I’m sure he’s got plenty of good footy left in him.”
