Adelaide defender Daniel Talia has conceded the Crows have not been “coming to play” following heavy back-to-back losses.

On Sunday, Gold Coast claimed its first win over the Crows in a comprehensive 53-point victory at Metricon Stadium.

Talia did not hold back in labelling the performance as “gutting”, admitting the Club was “so far off the mark at the moment”.

“The majority of our guys aren’t playing their role to the standard needed to win a football game,” Talia told the media on Monday morning.

“The playing group is really hurting… I don’t think I’ve been in a team this non-competitive.

“We’re under no illusions, we need to get better.”

Adelaide's players and coaching staff discussed the loss in depth on Sunday night, which prompted “good chats” about where the Club was at.

Talia said responsibility fell to the senior players to set an example.

“We need to get better as a whole group, and it starts with the old group,” he said.

“When you’ve got your 10 or so best players coming in and not playing well… you can’t expect the young guys to carry the side.

“The senior players need to be the one that drive it.

“I feel sorry for Nicksy at the moment… he’s doing everything he can to get the group up and when we’re serving that up, it’s pretty tough.”
