Crows great Ben Rutten will play what could be his final game against St Kilda at Adelaide Oval on Sunday.
Rutten, who announced his plans to retire at the end of the season in July, has been selected in a squad of 25 to take on the Saints in Adelaide’s final match of the minor round. Unless the Crows qualify for finals, it will be the All-Australian defender’s 229th and final AFL game.
Adelaide will make at least two changes to the team that lost to North Melbourne last weekend. Rory Laird (concussion) has been ruled out of the Saints clash, while young backman Luke Thompson is a confirmed omission.
Wingman David Mackay, who missed the trip to Tasmania because of concussion, is in the mix to return. Emerging midfielders Matt Crouch, Mitch Grigg and Sam Kerridge, and veteran Brent Reilly have also been included in the squad, which will be trimmed to 22 on afc.com.au at 4:30pm on Friday.

The Saints will also farewell a champion on Sunday, with retiring midfielder Lenny Hayes set to play his last game. The Crows will recognise both Hayes and Rutten after the final siren. Sunday’s match, which starts at 2:50pm, will mark acting co-captain Rory Sloane’s 100th game.
