Adelaide will play its one SANFL “home” game at Balaklava next season.
After taking the first SANFL Showdown to Clare this year, Adelaide has chosen the Mid North town, 95km north of Adelaide, to host its clash with Port Adelaide on Sunday, May 17.
Proceeds for the event will go to the Adelaide Plains Football League and a charity/cause to be announced early next year.
Crows GM Football Administration Phil Harper said Adelaide wanted to repeat the success of this year’s country game.
“The day in Clare was a huge success with a crowd of more than 5,000 and we are keen to continue to take games to South Australian regional communities as a way of thanking them for supporting our Club and football in general,” he said.
Adelaide opens the SANFL season against North Adelaide at Prospect Oval on Saturday, April 11.
Other features of the program include four Friday/Saturday night games against West Adelaide, Glenelg, South Adelaide and Norwood before the start of the winter months.
Five SANFL games are scheduled on the same day as the Club’s AFL games but there are no time clashes.
“It’s very difficult to match up the AFL and SANFL schedules but the SANFL has done its best to help us with the timing of games and to provide suitable breaks for our players,” Harper said.
Adelaide will play a trial game against Port Adelaide on March 21 and completes its preparation with a practice match against West Adelaide at Richmond Oval on April 4.
Free entry to all Adelaide SANFL games is included with all Crows AFL ticketed memberships.
