Saints veteran Lenny Hayes is expected to take his place this Sunday against the Crows in his final AFL match.
Hayes has battled soreness in the past few weeks as the end of his incredible AFL career draws near. But the respected midfielder has been backed by St Kilda to lead the club out for one last time on Sunday afternoon at Adelaide Oval.
The news is not as good for defender Sam Gilbert, who has been ruled out after suffering a foot injury in the final quarter of last week’s game against Richmond.
Former Hawk Shane Savage is also unavailable after fracturing his right arm in two places at training last week. Savage was booked for corrective surgery on Friday afternoon and faces a lengthy recovery period.
Josh Saunders could earn a recall in Sunday afternoon’s clash after an impressive VFL performance last weekend. Saunders finished the game with 28 disposals in the midfield and up forward during Sandringham’s 55-point loss to Williamstown.
Tall utility Sam Dunell and lively mid Lewis Pierce could also be in the mix following impressive performances for the Zebras.
