Defender Matthew Jaensch’s breakout season has been rewarded with a two year contract extension.
Jaensch, 24, has played every game this season, providing offensive run from half back.
The former Sturt junior is now tied to the Crows until at least the end of 2016.
Jaensch, who has played 65 AFL games, boasts a damaging long kick and is averaging 21 possessions this season.
“I have always worked hard, but this season I have strived to achieve a new level of fitness,” he said.
“I am really enjoying my footy and know I have a lot more improvement .
“I owe a fair bit to our defensive coach Darren Milburn and Daniel Talia, who have really guided and challenged me this year.”
Crows Head of Football David Noble said Jaensch was starting to fulfil the potential, which saw the Club rookie-list him at the end of 2009.
“Matthew is benefiting from a tough pre-season where he was able to get himself in great shape,” Noble said.
“He always had the talent but we are now starting to see consistency in performance.
“Given an injury free run, he has emerged as a key part of our exciting young backline.”
Jaensch is among a number of Crows who have committed to the Club in recent weeks. They include wingman David Mackay, defender Ricky Henderson and speedy forward Charlie Cameron.
