Tippett's big day out
Ian Callinan is predicting returning big man Kurt Tippett faces a huge job against the Eagles
With Eagle Quinten Lynch back in the side, Cox and Naitanui are likely to spend less time in attack than they did against the Swans last week and more time in the middle.
But by working in combination with potential All Australian ruckman Sam Jacobs, Callinan said Tippett and Josh Jenkins could gang up on the two star Eagles to gain ascendancy.
As the smallest player on Adelaide's books at 172cm, Callinan said he also relied on Tippett in the forward line to bring the ball to ground.
"Obviously Cox and Naitanui are two great ruckmen, so for us to have 'Jenko', 'Tippo' and 'Sauce' rotating through that area is [great]," Callinan said.
"Tippo cops a lot of criticism, but he works hard for the side, he brings the ball to the ground for guys like me and is probably very underrated in that area so it's going to be huge for us."
Jacobs also shapes as a key player in Saturday's contest and recently revealed that he watched Cox's performances as often as he could.
Cox has been arguably the most effective ruckman in the game for some time and, although daunting to come up against such a player, Callinan said Jacobs would "relish" the battle and tipped him for national representation honours.
"Knowing 'Sauce' he'll relish the challenge, he's probably in the best two or three ruckmen in the comp at the moment so I'm sure he'll be looking to get a scalp," he said.
"I'd be extremely surprised if he wasn't in [the All Australian team]."
Adelaide made six changes to the side that demolished GWS last week, bringing in veterans Michael Doughty and Graham Johncock, as well as Brad Symes, Andy Otten and Jared Petrenko.
Doughty and Johncock are the two most seasoned players on Adelaide's list and, combined with the other inclusions, boost the team's experience by 608 games.
With old heads on hand, it could help stop any complacency creep into the Crows' game after their mammoth 119-point win over GWS last weekend.
But Callinan said there was no danger the easy win would hamper the side's efforts against a fellow top-four challenger.
"We got out of the game what we wanted to get out of the game and quickly moved on to West Coast," he said.
"They're not sitting in the top five for nothing so we won't take them lightly…if we take them lightly we'll probably cop it.
"We spoke about contested footy this week so I'm sure it'll be pretty hot in that area."
