It was a luckless weekend for Adelaide’s Fan Fantasy team as the Fantasy Crows fell to Brisbane by 111 points in Round 11.
The Lions scored the biggest Fantasy total of the week in our league to leave Adelaide stranded in third place on the Official AFL Fan Fantasy ladder.
The move to trade in Chad Wingard (18) last round was costly, after the Power youngster was stretchered off during Port Adelaide’s win over Melbourne. Teammate Jared Polec (38) was another disappointment in Round 11, as the 21–year-old failed to overcome a tag from Daniel Cross.
An injury-affected score from Sam Jacobs (44) completed our run of horrid luck for the weekend, ultimately costing us the win against the second-placed Fantasy Lions.
However, there were some outstanding performers who can hold their head high.
Matthew Jaensch (112), Rory Sloane (113) and Patrick Dangerfield (93) were our best performing Crows in a sublime Fantasy weekend for the Club.
Tom Liberatore (129), Dayne Beams (126), David Swallow (118) and Scott Pendlebury (113) also scored heavily, while Gary Ablett (98) failed to crack the Fantasy ton for the second straight week and just the third time this year.
Our attention now turns to Geelong, which remains winless on the bottom of the Fan Fantasy ladder. The Cats suffered a narrow loss to Port Adelaide last round and therefore should not be taken lightly. We do not want to be the team to hand Geelong its first Fantasy win of the year.
There are some big decisions that must be made before we line up against the Cats.
Wingard is in some doubt to play for Port this weekend, but we should hold him regardless to make the most of our investment across future rounds.
Instead, we could swap the dual-position Jack Billings from our midfield bench to take Wingard’s place up forward. Billings is on the cusp of his break even bubble at 68 points, and it therefore could be an opportune time to cash in on the young Saint.
Comeback Crow Taylor Walker looms as the best replacement, following his five-goal and 116-point haul against the Suns last week. Vote below on whether we should trade Tex into our side this week.
Jared Polec is the other player on the chopping block with a huge break even next to his name for Round 12.
We can afford to splurge some of our cash to upgrade Polec to a premium midfielder, so vote below on who our next target should be.
As always, 19th Man, the final decision lies with you.
