Adelaide has added 2012 Advertiser SANFL Team of the Year defender Paul Marschall to its SANFL development list.
The 21-year-old former Central District star - who gave away league football last year to focus on his work – will be eligible to join the Crows SANFL squad this week.
Marschall was recruited from South Gawler and made his league debut for Central in 2012. His outstanding season was rewarded with Team of the Year selection and the SANFL Star Search Award.
But he knocked back an invite to attend the AFL draft camps at that end of the 2012 season and also chose to focus on his landscape business last year, when he played a few games with South Gawler.
Crows GM Football Administration Phil Harper said Adelaide’s development system suited Marschall, who did not want to commit to a full-time SANFL program.
“When Paul doesn’t play for us, he can play for South Gawler,” Harper said. “We know he’s an AFL standard player and if the arrangement works for him and us we see it as a positive in getting a good player back in the system.
“In addition, if his circumstances change and he can fully commit again then he could go back to Centrals with our blessing.”
