Sam Kerridge will face a fitness test ahead of Adelaide’s season-opener against North Melbourne on Sunday, April 5.

Kerridge, 21, sustained a minor hamstring injury at training last week, ruling him out of the Club’s final NAB Challenge match against Port Adelaide.

Coach Phil Walsh said Kerridge and two-time best and fairest winner Scott Thompson were both “touch and go” for Round One.

“Sam did it (his hamstring) in the warm up at training, but it’s very minor,” Walsh told FIVEaa.

“Sam did play NAB Challenge game one against North (Melbourne), so he has got some game time in him. But both him and Scott (Thompson) they’d be real touch and go (in terms of) if I was to go with them for Round One.”

Brad Crouch has been ruled out of the opening two months of the season after having surgery to repair a fractured foot. Walsh said it was disappointing to see the older Crouch sibling sidelined particularly after younger brother Matt made a successful comeback from ankle surgery in Adelaide’s SANFL trial win over the Port Magpies on Saturday.

“Brad’s had a great pre-season. I actually rang his Dad Saturday night after the game. I said ‘I’ve got some good news and I’ve got some bad news … the good news is we got Matt back up and playing’,” Walsh said.

“Brad will get back though. He’s a ripper kid. He’s had some adversity already and he knows how to overcome it.”

Brad Crouch joins teammates Riley Knight (ankle) and Rory Atkins (knee) on the sidelines with leg injuries.

Defenders Andy Otten (knee), Sam Shaw (hamstring) and Brent Reilly (fractured skull) are recovering from long-term injuries, with no date set for their returns.
