Avid American sports fans Tom Lynch and Josh Jenkins are enjoying a trip of a lifetime in the US.
In a jam-packed 18 days, the pair is visiting seven cities, experiencing seven NFL and four college football teams. Their first stop was Washington where they saw reigning world champions the Seattle Seahawks host the Dallas Cowboys from the sideline of Century Link Field.
During their Seattle stopover, Lynch and Jenkins were also given a tour of the Seahawks facilities by athletic trainer David Stricklin, who was a guest at the Crows earlier this year. The forwards even got a wave from super bowl-winning coach Pete Carroll. The Adelaide duo also visited the powerhouse college program, the Washington Huskies.
After seeing what sport has to offer in Seattle, Lynch and Jenkins moved on to Boston where they had a chance meeting with star New England quarterback and one of the greatest NFL players of all time, Tom Brady. They watched Brady’s Patriots take on the New York Jets and also got a glimpse inside the Celtics locker rooms before heading to Detroit to see another NFL game, this time the Lions taking on the New Orleans Saints.
Former basketballer Jenkins also scored a photo with former NBA great Karl Malone at a college football match between LSU and Ole Miss, which was attended by more than 100,000 fans. The sports-mad teammates stopped by the ESPN Studios near New York and caught up with Aussies Abroad host, Jason Bennett.
Forwards Eddie Betts and Matt Wright, and new recruits Kyle Cheney and Luke Lowden are also touring the United States. Betts has travelled the west coast with partner Anna and young son, Lewis. The family’s stops have included Disneyland, Hollywood and the San Diego Zoo. Wright is enjoying New York with his fiancé, Anna, while Cheney and Lowden were holidaying together in LA with ex-Hawthorn teammates when they were recruited by the Crows a fortnight ago.
Nathan van Berlo and Rory Sloane and their partners Jess and Belinda experienced Robert Gerard’s breathtaking game park in South Africa.
Rory and Belinda then ventured to the picturesque Zanzibar.
Defender Brent Reilly continues his tour of Europe with wife Jamie, while Andy Otten caught up with a mate in Stockholm.
Patrick Dangerfield jumped from one fishing trip to another. Dangerfield recently returned to New Zealand, where he spent time last offseason, and opted for some fly fishing. He’s now enjoying one of his other favourite past times, fishing, in Indonesia.
A host of Crows are making the most of the warm weather in Australia. Club Champion Daniel Talia has soaked up the rays at Middleton, while Cam Ellis-Yolmen posted a photo with his sister at Semaphore.
