Adelaide’s final game was over three months ago, but that hasn’t stopped Eddie Betts from kicking one last miracle goal to see out the year.
Betts enjoyed a stellar 2015 season. He won Adelaide’s leading goalkicker award for the second consecutive year, placed third in the Club’s best and fairest and received All Australian honours for the first time in his career.
He also won the AFL’s Goal of the Year award for an amazing left-foot torpedo from the boundary in Round Nine. Boundary line beauties have become a regular specialty for Betts, who also won the 2006 Goal of the Year while playing for Carlton and was a finalist in his first season at Adelaide in 2014.
The star forward shared one final goal on his Instagram account to wind out the year in typical Eddie Betts style.
Betts begins the video standing well beyond the boundary line at Lockleys Oval. He then casually nails an incredible left-foot snap to add another pocket to his growing catalogue of boundary bananas.
The effort took just one attempt and left onlookers, including his son Lewis and current Crow Cam Ellis-Yolmen, in stitches.
If Eddie’s ‘Christmas training’ is anything to go by, we should expect another exciting season from the livewire forward in 2016.
