Adelaide forward Lachlan Murphy has revealed his hilarious first interaction with Sydney star Lance Franklin.
Murphy, who was lining up in just his 13th AFL game, was mistaken for a waterboy by Franklin in the middle of a match between the Crows and Swans.
“Sydney were having a shot for goal and Buddy was standing on the 50,” Murphy told AFC Media.
“I went to stand behind him because I was star-struck, was three metres behind his shoulder.
“He turned around and indicated he wanted a drink of water, then realised I was a player and said ‘oh, sorry mate’.
“He gave me a quick tap on the shoulder and ran off.”
Not sure if he was joking or not, but my first interaction with Buddy was him thinking I was the waterboy and asked for a drink... https://t.co/H3h50kvkOW

Murphy did not immediately reveal the interaction to his teammates, but did tell several friends who were spectating.
“One of my best mates, his idol is Buddy Franklin,” Murphy said.
“He kept asking me what it was like to play on the same ground on him… and I said it was amazing, but that you wouldn’t believe what happened.
“They all laughed about the situation with me.”
And teammate Brodie Smith's reply to Murphy could be even funnier:
Years back he told us he was on more than our backline combined... we’ve since done the math... he was right #budwa

To really cap it off, it was also the same match that Franklin bet Taylor Walker a box of Lemon Ruskis he couldn't boot a goal from outside of 50.
It was an eventful Round Two clash with Sydney in 2019. Thankfully, Smith can help you relive some of it:
