All-Australian captain Chelsea Randall headlines an exciting list of AFLW players who have re-committed to the Crows for the 2019 season.
The 26-year-old’s signature comes alongside nine others, with dual-sport athlete Jenna McCormick, midfielder Justine Mules, ruck Rhiannon Metcalfe, defenders Dayna Cox, Marijana Rajcic and Stevie-Lee Thompson, and NT-based Angela Foley and Jasmyn Hewett all signing on with Adelaide this week.
Inaugural AFLW Best and Fairest Erin Phillips has also officially put pen to paper after signalling her commitment to the Crows in April before departing for the US where she is an assistant coach with the Dallas Wings in the WNBA.
Midfielder Ebony Marinoff signed with the Club ahead of the official sign and trade period after she received an offer from an expansion club.
Crows General Manager of Football Administration Phil Harper said he was delighted to see the group continue their careers at the Crows.
“We’re thrilled to see our top talent eager to re-commit and build on what we have achieved in the first two seasons,” he said
As well as being named back-to-back All Australian, the inspirational utility won this year’s Crows’ Club Champion award and shared the AFL Coaches’ Association Player of the Year award with Emma Kearney.
She also claimed consecutive Players’ Player and Most Courageous Awards in a remarkably consistent 2018 season.
Randall has also been instrumental in developing and growing Adelaide’s successful Crows Cup program which encourages young girls across South Australia to have a go at football.
Originally from Western Australia, Randall said Adelaide was like home to her now and she was thrilled to sign on with the Crows.
“I love being part of this Club and I’m really proud of what our team has achieved on and off the field in the last two years,” she said.
“It’s been such an honour to lead this group of women alongside Erin. We’ve developed an incredibly strong bond and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve next season.”
The AFLW sign and trade period runs until Monday, June 4, with clubs able to sign up to 23 players by this deadline.
The Crows have signed a total of 11 players with more to be announced on Monday.
Currently, AFLW clubs can only contract players on a season-by-season basis.
The League is yet to determine the format of next year’s competition which will be extended to 10 teams with the inclusion of Geelong and North Melbourne.
