Adelaide captain Mark Ricciuto will have minor groin surgery on Friday and is expected to be off the training track for a fortnight.

Ricciuto, entering his sixth season as skipper, needs a follow-up procedure to previous surgery he had about eight years ago.

Crows training services manager Trevor Jaques said: "It is only a minor procedure and will not cause too much of an interruption to Mark’s pre-season schedule."

A groin injury forced Ricciuto to miss the Crows' premiership in 1997. Otherwise, the 30 year-old has proved to be highly durable, playing in 24 of Adelaide's 25 matches in 2005 for a career tally of 286 since his debut season as a 17 year-old in 1993.
