Hawthorn defender Brian Lake will miss Friday night's sold-out clash with the Crows at Adelaide Oval after receiving a four-game ban for misconduct.

Lake was referred directly to the Tribunal for an incident involving North Melbourne forward Drew Petrie in the Kangaroos' win over the Hawks at Etihad Stadium. 

The Tribunal found the Norm Smith Medallist guilty of the charge and handed down a four-match penalty. He had a 10 per cent loading for three matches suspended in the last three years and 37.5 carryover points for an incident in last year's Grand Final.
