Scott Thompson has moved into fourth place in the AFL Coaches Association Player of the Year award on the back of his best-on-ground performance against St Kilda on Friday night.

Thompson, who amassed a game-high 39 disposals and a goal in Adelaide’s win over the Saints, received the maximum 10 votes from coaches Brenton Sanderson and Scott Watters.

It’s the third time this season the reigning Crows Club Champion has polled a perfect score from the coaches. Kurt Tippett (seven votes), Patrick Dangerfield (three votes) and ruckman Sam Jacobs (two votes) were the other Crows to attract votes on Friday night.

Adelaide is the only Club to have three players, Thompson (fourth), Dangerfield and young midfielder Rory Sloane, among the overall leaders in the prestigious AFLCA Champion Player of the Year.
