Girls looking to have a go at footy, or those who are already involved in the game but want to extend their skills, can do so this summer with a girls school holiday clinic to be held at the Adelaide Football Club for the first time.
Coordinated by AFL Women’s recruits Chelsea Randall and Erin Phillips, the clinic is aimed at girls aged 5 to 12 years and will be held on Thursday, January 19 from 8.45am to 1pm at Football Park.
As well as taking part in a coaching clinic, those attending will have the opportunity to get autographs and guidance from Randall and Phillips as well as their Crows women’s teammates Anne Hatchard, Rhiannon Metcalfe, Sarah Allan and Georgia Bevan.
Randall said that the school holiday clinic had been developed as part of the Club’s drive and commitment increasing girls’ participation in football in SA.
“There’s been huge growth in the number of girls interested in playing footy in the last 12 months and this clinic has been developed in response to that,” Randall said.
“In December we hosted more than 350 primary and secondary school girls for the inaugural Crows Cup Carnival. The two days were such a success we decided to give girls another opportunity to come out to the Club and further develop their skills or have a go at the sport for the first time.
“The aim of the clinic is to provide an opportunity for young females to pursue their dream of being involved in AFL.
“We want to be the Club of choice for girls and women who want to get involved with football, whether that’s as a participant, administrator or fan.”
The cost of the school holiday clinic is $75 which includes coaching, a showbag and sausage sizzle. Parents are encouraged to stay and watch their girls in action.
