Top five DT point scorers
Matthew Wright 102
Rory Sloane 88
Richard Douglas 84
Sam Jacobs 78
Scott Thompson 75
Matthew Wright ($438,700) kick started his DT season with an impressive 102 points against Essendon. After a breakthrough year in the midfield in 2012, Wright’s price has increased significantly but those DT coaches who confidently picked him were rewarded with a solid score to start the year. For those of you who don’t have Wright, have a think about trading him in … he’s a DT luxury considering he’s a genuine midfielder that can be picked as a forward.
Rory Sloane ($470,100) was at his hard-working best against the Dons, he enjoyed 23 possessions and a team-high six tackles. He recorded 88 DT points - the second most for the Crows.
Richard Douglas ($372,600) showed some positive signs in the Crows’ encounter with Essendon. The former Club Champion had 19 disposals and kicked two goals to finish with 84 DT points.
While he didn’t dominate, Sam Jacobs ($449,900) scored a serviceable 78 DT points. Jacobs rucked for the majority of the game and finished with 10 disposals and 37 hit-outs. He is sure to improve his numbers this season and watch for the Crows number one big-man to kick more goals in 2013.
Don’t panic
Patrick Dangerfield and Scott Thompson were key targets for Essendon on Friday night with numerous players crashing into the Crows renowned ball winners anytime they got near the football. Danger and Thommo subsequently scored some of their lowest DT scores for a long time, but you can back them both to bounce back against Brisbane in round two. You can’t keep gun players down…
