Adelaide ruckman Reilly O’Brien believes AFL hubs could prosper at Adelaide Oval during the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, O’Brien said he was open to all ideas that would lead to football’s return, including temporarily relocating to Melbourne.

But the Crows No. 43 said his preference would definitely be for the AFL to set up shop at Adelaide Oval.

“It’s wise for the clubs to look at every possible idea,” O’Brien said.

“I’d be all for us being at Adelaide Oval… interstate (non-Victorian) teams do a lot more travelling than MCG-based teams.

“It would be fair if it went the other way, but we’ll wait and see.”

If Adelaide Oval was to host a hub, calls have been made for the Crows and Port Adelaide not to play at the ground given the advantage.

O’Brien said it would be a similar benefit for Melbourne teams if the MCG were selected.

“There will need to be concessions… it won’t be perfect,” he said.

“It could be an advantage (for other teams) if we’re away living in Melbourne.

“But something like that’s going to have to happen if the season goes ahead.”

Away from the Club, O’Brien has been using his spare time to focus on his university degree - medical science.

“I took on three subjects this semester, nearly a full load,” O’Brien said.

“I would have struggled if the season had gone ahead… now I’ve got a bit of time.

“I’ve actually got an assignment due tomorrow I should get started on.”
