Experienced recruiting boss Hamish Ogilvie has two important words for prospective 2020 AFL draftees to remember in these challenging times:
“Be ready.”
With no guarantee elite underage competitions will resume in 2020 and uncertainty around the format of this year’s draft, Ogilvie urged aspiring young footballers to step up their training programs to the best of their ability.
“Just be ready,” Ogilvie told AFC Media.
“I’ve spoken to a fair few boys along the way, and clubs. The good clubs have given their players really good programs.
“Some players have sought out people to get help. Train with family members or other AFL players that they know – to be ready.
“So do your program, it shows that you’re really driven. If you have the ability to work on your own, or with one partner at a time like this and come back as well prepared or even better, that’d be a massive, massive tick.”
